FAQ

How did you get published?

Like so many fellow authors, I was plucked from the agency slush pile. My agent(s) then submitted my manuscripts to publishers for me.

Who is your agent?

I am represented by the wonderful Elisabeth Weed at The Book Group.

Do you have advice for budding authors?

Find a writing schedule that works for you, and do your best to stick with it. For me, writing a little bit every day is the best method. And read as much as you can, across a range of genres. There is no better way to learn the craft than to read and read widely.

Do you have advice for getting traditionally published?

Once you have your book in the best shape you possibly can and ideally have gotten feedback from several beta readers, you’re ready to query agents. I highly recommend using a site like AgentQuery.com to put together a list of reputable agents and find advice on tailoring a perfect query letter.

Are there any writing and craft books you recommend?

I adore Save the Cat, Anatomy of Story, Bird by Bird and On Writing.

Can you read my novel or query letter?

As much as I would love to read everyone’s writing, I already have a stable of beta readers to whom I’m committed and my schedule doesn’t leave me time to read beyond that. However, I do offer editorial services for those looking for a book editor.
